Boris Javorski

Mr. Boris Javorski’s childhood and early professional life was not an easy journey. His patience, perseverance, persistency, positive attitude, prayer, and caring for people made him a self-made millionaire, entrepreneur, businessman, wonderful husband, and father of 3 daughters.

Boris emigrated to Canada as a teenager in 1996 from war-torn Bosnia. His early school years in Canada were not the greatest experience that compelled him to return to Bosnia and return to Canada in 2005 with only $250 in his pocket. Upon arriving in Toronto and with the help of a generous WestJet ticket hostess that subsidized part of his air ticket, he reached Edmonton, penniless. He immediately started working as a cleaner working 16-to-20-hour days to progress within the company for nine years to save and purchase his first hotel in 2014, a 1908 built Holden Hotel in Holden. His passion for service excellence and family support allowed him to grow his business by acquiring a hotel in 2016 in Lamont and Viking. The 63 room Studio 6 hotel was entirely built out of containers and looking at the building or staying in it, you can’t tell that it was build with sea cans. With his innovative mind and thinking outside the box, Boris invited guests to sleep inside refurbished shipping containers.

Living through his core passion in hospitality and motto that success is a journey and not a destination, he extended his business in 2017 to Grande Prairie by acquiring the Boardwalk Inn and Westport Inn, soon to be converted to a Ramada Hotel. In 2019, Boris acquired the Ramada Hotel in Whitecourt. His passion for skiing took him to the Mountain to acquire the 104 all-suite Mountainview Resort & Suites, Fairmont Hot Springs.

In 2019, Boris partnered with Mr. Sajid Khan, that shared his same passion and values. The partnership entered a new era to branch out as master franchisees for Boardwalk Burgers & Fries in Canada, with 24 stores and 20 more in the pipeline for development. With the success of the brand and the uniqueness of the product, the brand presence was exported to the overseas market to open stores in Qatar, Pakistan, and Africa. The partnership saw the growing need for good healthy food offerings, leading them to develop a Mediterranean food offering by opening their first Lava Grill in Calgary. The demand for the cuisine led them to open Lava Lounge in Whitecourt and Fairmont, with a newly built restaurant to be soon open in Westgate Mall, Edmonton.

Boris loves his family retreats and skiing with his family in the mountains. All of his associates know his humble beginning and caring attitude. Today, Kastel Holdings Ltd. and Boardwalk Burgers & Fries, Canada, are thriving due to the vision of an immigrant that did not have anything but managed to create a business that employs hundreds of people today.
